Unfortunately, many students have moments where they experience poor body image and low self esteem. For some people, these feelings can be triggered by looking in the mirror. A Mirror Messages takeover can combat these negative feelings by providing students and staff in your school with a mental health boost and a reminder of their true beauty and value.

INSTRUCTIONS
- As a club, brainstorm when you think students and staff would most benefit from your Mirror Messages campaign. Is there a time where you think people would most benefit from a self esteem boost? Some schools like the campaign to coincide with Eating Disorder Awareness Week/Month in February. Also determine how long your messages will be up (one day, a full week, etc.).
- Next, make a list of all of the mirrors that you want to reach in your school. Consider including mirrors in faculty bathrooms as well. Use this list to determine approximately how many post-it notes you will need to create.
- Start creating your post-it notes. Include positive, encouraging, inspiring messages. Some ideas include:
- Know your worth.
- Just be you.
- You deserve love.
- You are the best part of someone’s day.
- Your mistakes don’t define you.
- You are valued.
- You’re beautiful inside and out.
- Believe in yourself.
- Decide when you will meet as a club to complete the bathroom transformations. Consider getting to school early or waiting until most students have left school today to make the transformation a surprise. Work together to create Mirror Messages displays in all the bathrooms.
- When your campaign is over, make sure to carefully remove all of the post-it notes so that no one else has to clean them up.
